CGRundertow DISHONORED for Xbox 360 Video Game Review

Hi this is Russ for cgrundertow, And if you’re
a fan of cutting throats and stealth, boy do i have a great game for you. Dishonored is a tale of revenge betrayal murder
and loss, and while the story may be familiar, the setting incredible art style and splendid
cast of characters, really make the world come alive. The story is simply put a breathtaking and
engrossing experience. Dishonored is a first person stealth game,
with touches of Deus Ex and Bioshock for good measure. There are nine missions you will
undertake, each with a large open mission area, once you’re done you go back to the
pub the game’s hub. This works remarkably well, as the game features
so many choices that impact the game. You will want to play this one again and again
to see all the differences subtle and not so subtle. For example, it’s easily possible to play
the entire game, without ever taking anyones life. The more violent you are the darker
the game becomes. Combat is a very brutal and satisfying affair. You have a sword which you can stab, slash,
and dismember your enemies with. A pistol which packs quite the punch and a
crossbow with sleeping and normal bolts to kill your enemies. The stealth system allows you to choke out
the guards. Or perform a brutal stealth kill. The choice is yours and my there’s so many
to make. You get access to powers that can slow down
time, or allow you to rapidly jump from place to place. Which can get you on top of roofs
for a bit of action ala assassins creed. There’s plenty of abilities to gain and
they’re all very fun to use. With so much variety and freedom of choice,
dishonored rarely has a dull moment. The art style really sets this one apart from
the rest, while the textures may be a bit rough, the superb art fantastic designs, along with stunning character animations make
dishonored an incredibly beautiful experience. Honestly few games rarely give you this amount
of freedom, and make every choice count like Dishonored does. Its a shame the protagonist is silent, as
some well placed dialogue would have ramped up the emotions in the game. Still the opening gives plenty of reasons
to be a vengeful and violent assassin. With some brutal and visceral combat, tons
of choices just begging for multiple play throughs, and fantastic visuals, you would
be mad not to pick up this game. Few games manage to get so much right.

This game is incredibly good! Great review! My biggest gripe is the muddy, dull textures. What happened there? Definitely worth picking up!

I believe he was referencing the lyrics from the song from the commercial for this game. Look up "Drunken Sailor."

Combat/killing won't give you a good ending. To bad it's so short.

Are you seriously butthurt just because the protagonist is a white guy and you don't see enough black protagonists in games? You need to be the one to wake up here. You live in America where every person of every race is accepted, not some place like Zimbabwe.

Well, maybe that's because it's not a Bethesda game 😉 They are just publishers, Arcane studios are the developers.

Best game of 2012. It blew my mind. Definitely in the vein of classics like Deus Ex, Thief, Half-Life, Bioshock. This game will get more popular as time goes by.

Why does the game look like it came out of 2005? The game play is great, but why does it look so bad?

If you beat the game and have a lot of upgrades, can you replay the first mission with all those upgrades and keep earning more?

I started off with the goal of not harming anyone for the entire game; by the end of the first assassination mission I was gleefully hacking up anyone in sight (including the rats).

Looking for a bit of information. I'm just wondering if the combat is as simple as it looks because i'm not really into the quick-and-easy combat games.

Completely agree! The artwork is so nice! I really love the "jack the ripper" atmsophere of the game. And the numerous ways you can tackle it. Not only the combat but also the environment. So many hidden paths and stuff. Great game.
